Valeria Di Sabato, aka ALVAX, is an international sound designer, electronic music producer, sound artist, and media artist based in Sicily and Milan. They began exploring sound from an early age, teaching themselves the basics of DAWs and electronic music production. Fascinated by the ambient sounds around them, they went on to study Sound Design in Milan.
During this period, ALVAX performed at prestigious venues like Milan’s “La Triennale” and Leoncavallo, as well as at various festivals. They also developed media installations at (T)Raum Space in Milan, in Trapani, and at the Errant Sound Project Space in Berlin. In their work, they enjoy combining unconventional tools such as sensors, hydrophones, and granular synthesis to create immersive soundscapes.
Collaborations with international artists in audio, including Bill Fontana, have brought them new perspectives on sound recording. They have also worked as a sound designer for the Italian film company Piano9Produzioni. ALVAX’s work has gained international recognition, including at the TTT Conference on Art and Science in Vienna, where they presented their audiovisual research “Agnus Dei_beyond the faith.” Their debut EP, I’m Not (In) My Body Anymore, was released in 2021 with the Italian label Pitch The Noise and is available on digital music platforms.
